The History of the Game - A Stress-Free Poker Game

Video Poker is a single player game of poker that enables players to enjoy a simple and a stress-free poker game. This game is usually played on a computerized touch screen. This game’s popularity skyrocketed and now, players will be able to find it at every internet or land based gambling venue. The main thing that attracts millions of players to this game is the fact that players will not have to beat other players. This also means that players will not need to make any risky bluffs or go all in on a hand and lose it all; this is because in this game, the rewards that players claim only depend on their hand, its strength and its payout in the paytable.

Video poker was first introduced in 1970 but its popularity started to increase after IGT, which went by the name of Si Redd’s Coin Machines (SIRCOMA) at that time, released its first video poker game that was called Draw Poker in 1979.

How to Play the Game?

Video poker, like any game of poker, starts by placing a stake or a wager. This is the only time that you will be asked to place a wager, so think how much you want to wager because there are no further wagering rounds. This wager consists of two parts. The first part is the coin size; the size of the coins varies between one game and another. The second part is the number of coins you want to place.

After you set the desired stake, you will be able to start the game by clicking on the “Deal” button. The game will deal you five cards. You will be able to choose the cards that you wish to hold. You will be able to hold these cards by simply clicking on them. After you do that, you will be able to get replacement cards for the cards you did not select by Clicking on “Deal” once again. The 5 cards that you have represent your final poker hand. You will be rewarded according to your stake and the strength of the hand. Of course, the highest payout is paid with players get a royal flush.

There are different versions of the game. The procedure and the game concept do not change. For example, some games will offer you a wild card. This wild card can substitute for any card from the deck in order to help you create a better poker hand.¬† This wild card is usually the Deuce “2” or the Joker. An example for such games is Deuces Wild or Joker Poker.

Each game has a minimum paying hand that players will have to achieve in order to claim a reward. Most games consider a pair of Jacks as the minimum paying hand. There are other games that pay for a pair of tens “Tens or Better” and other video poker games consider 3 of a Kind as the minimum hand.
